Question: What type of product does a chandler make or sell?
Answer: Candles. A chandler is traditionally a person that sells wax or tallow candles and usually soap too. By the 18th century, most chandlers dealt in a number of household goods including candles, oils, soap, and even paint. Later, a ceiling fixture that held a number of candles was called a chandelier. We still use the term today, although we no longer use candles in the fixture.
